How To Clean And Protect Tires And Wheels

We all love the sight of a car or a truck that looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor. It’s clean. It’s polished. And its tires look great.

Cleaning your car or truck’s wheels and tires is for more than just looks. Brake dust that sits on your wheels can cause damage.

Brake dust is highly corrosive. When it sits on your wheels for long periods of time, it can eat away at the finish, scaring and pitting your wheels. To help prevent this from happening, you should regularly clean your wheels and tires.

To remove brake dust from your car or truck’s wheels and keep your tires looking great, we recommend the following steps:

  1. Spray your wheels with water, preferably from a high-powered pressure washer. Be sure your brakes are cool before cleaning.
  2. Use a wheel cleaner. Allow the cleaner to sit a few minutes on the wheels.
  3. Use a brush to scrub. Be sure it has firm bristles. This will help clean the wheels and tires, removing brake dust and grease.
  4. After the wheels and tires have dried, apply a tire dressing to the tire. If you want a deeper shine, apply two coats.

Following these steps will protect your wheels and keep your tires looking great on your car or truck. When looking for a tire cleaning system, be sure to look for one that is not silicone based. Silicone-based tire cleaning formulas attract brake dust, which cause corrosion.

Our PowerSheen Tire Brite tire dressing is a non silicone-based formula that doesn’t attract brake dust. It also prevents sling, keeping your car or truck looking great.
